Practicum 1 (2020)

Assistant teacher I E-Bridge Preschool (Sept 2020)
As part of my diploma assignment, I was attached to a 5-day practicum at Ebridge Preschool. I was delegated to help my host teacher take care of a group of N1 (age 3-4) students.

It was my first time interacting with children in a preschool setting, so it was a fruitful experience as I managed to learn classroom management techniques. My host teacher imparted knowledge on how they carried out lesson plans and classes, allowing me to better understand my duties as a future educarer. This experience allowed me to communicate and engage in meaningful interactions with children.
My responsibilities included:
-Distributing lunch and teatime for the children
-Assisting in toileting duties
-Watching the children during nap time
Through the guidance of my host teacher, I was able to learn several ways to build the social-emotional skills of young children with behavioural problems. I had the experience of using these skills to handle some children with challenging behaviours such as wailing, doing their business outside of the restroom and biting their friends.
